So my local shop just did an inspection on my car and it is nearing the time when I may need new struts and shocks. It has about 123000 miles on it and I think it's been abused by the previous owner. I found after I purchased the vehicle literally a year later that the radiator core support has been impacted at some point and bent. Something CarFax did not show when I bought it. Never buy a car in the middle of a divorce. The car drive fine if not a little tired. Today it's getting new spark plugs.

Anyway, I'm thinking if I need struts and shocks soon, what would you recommend for a good set that would be a step up from the typical stock offerings out there. I don't want to go overboard but I would like a little better performance. Gotta be able to dodge all our potholes and road construction and crappy curbs. I thought about lowering it an inch but I'm not so sure. So a little more stiffness and response without needing a kidney belt.... Thanks for your help, Roger

there isnt much out there in terms of step up from typical unless you want to go lower or taller. both options a coilover system would be best with the springs all in one unit. I went with KYB front and rear with after-market lifting springs(the first Gen 3 ever with the springs in the front as well) on all four corners, with all terrain tires this thing doesn't break traction even in the rain... I've tried, multiple times and it just sticks!

Initially, I only changed the rear springs with a set from an F-150 if not mistaken, I went through many sets of testing to find the more optimal setup for most users' usage plus those that like to get wild like myself.

but... next on the way you might be interested in... coilovers but ones that lift the car some if you feeling frisky! or.. you can leave it at stock height with improved components.

Kyb at rock auto. Get sway bar links at same time. Do not buy other (and cheaper) brands. Remember this BIG tip.

Shocks good til 150k. Many people (mis)believe they're good if not leaking. No reason to think the car was abused. Shocks do wear out. Too many ppl think driving style matters in longevity. That's like saying a car "I don't like the way you're treating my car.... I want it to last" if someone opens the throttle for 10 seconds
