I just took mine to the dealer for scheduled maintenance and an alignment. Looks like the dealer is selling me 3 new tires.

They didn't recommend driving on them anymore.

Almost 50,000 miles/5 years now and practically still no wear at all on my Dunlop Enasave 01 A/S 91S LRR made-in-Japan OEM tires. I drive gently and have them rotated every 5,000 miles. I had to replace one twice due to nails/screws (second replacement free under dealer tire warranty, even though it was probably repairable, but dealers don’t do tire repairs).

Funny how some roads seem to give you flat tires. A few years back, I got 3 flat tires, 3 days in a row on the same stretch of road.

Are you recalling the Tweel from about a decade ago? I undertand them to transmit a lot of minor vibration from which a pneumatic tire isolates a vehicle. Something like a tweel can be seen on slow moving construction equipment.

The moonbuggy had wire wheels, like a stent, made of titanium wires, I guess. But longevity and ride comfort wouldn't have been a priority.

Speaking of towing, I got towed by the City of Los Angeles for parking in a three-hour (1–4 AM) temporary no-parking zone in Hollywood last Sunday. There was only one sign in the whole block, and I didn’t see it. I thought they had stolen the Turquoise Jewel. They charged me $469 to recover my car from only 0.7 miles away. It hurt. Luckily, they seem to have put a dolly under the rear tires, as I had the parking brake on, and without it, the tires and brakes would have been damaged.

If my tire shop offered me airless tires that performed like pneumatic ones, I'd buy them, but they don't exist.

that hurts! when we were first married, our car got towed one night because the bumper was overhanging the driveway onto the sidewalk.
i thought it was stolen, went to the police and found it it was towed and instorage. i forget what it cost, but i couldn't afford it. totally bummed out.

I wonder if they'd make a good spare.
