Nice find! But that $100 price tag per ... ouch! I was hoping the article would say something about beam width, brightness, warmness, etc. But it's a start.

Neither article says much about the actual light. All they have is a *candidate*. Any LED can be given a longer lifespan by underdriving it.

That's because flat panels have much higher persistance. They don't fade to black between frames. That is one reason I stayed away from them when I was using flight simulators. They've been working on reducing this effect so that the flat panels don't have motion blur.

Are you really getting 90 hz refresh on the 21" at work? Just because you set it to that doesn't mean you are getting it in any given application. I'm pretty sensitive to flicker in large CRT's, but don't see it at 80 hz or so. When I though I had it always turned out to be an issue with the app/Windows etc. subbing in a lower refresh. Typically at high resolutions on 21" CRT's it was difficult to get 90 hz...it might even exceed the rating of the monitor. And then you have to have a vid card that can deliver it as well...typically work machines don't have either.
