You can make calls with it - however you cannot push your phonebook out. The 870 only supports Handset and Hands-free profiles. It funny you can use Directsend with it's camera yet they limited it's bluetooth abilities.
You got me curious - I have a 870 on my desk so I took it to the car to try for myself. It didn't work too well. It would pair up and I could dial from the car but not from the phone - and any incoming calls couldn't be answered from the car either. When I tried to switch the call to the car it would drop the car and turn off bluetooth. I'm gonna play around some more with it and contact Moto to see what they can tell me.
I'm a trainer for Sprint. Specifically I deal with training original Nextel people to handle Sprint issues and vice versa.
That explains your wealth of knowledge, even demeanor and eagerness to assist all. It's great to have such an authoritative figure on Bluetooth issues join us.
No. However, you can save up to seventeen numbers from the incoming and outgoing call logs to the one touch positions.
Can I send my phonebook from another bluetooth phone then use it with my i870? I still have my old Nokia 6230 that has all my contacts.
Sure, that sounds like a good idea. I believe people have had more sucess sending their phone book by laptop however.
I have a 2006 and I was able to manually enter names and phone numbers. I don't know if you couldn't on 04-05, but I was able to
Is the 2006 MFD capable of displaying battery strength? I'm fairly certain the 04-05 models had no such capability.
Yes there is an icon...uhh..spot....object that shows bluetooth connected, battery life and signal strength. The i870 sucks...all Nextel phones suck. So it must not send that info. It doesn't even send caller ID.
Here are a couple pictures. One shows in the top right battery strenght, signal strength and bluetooth connectivity. [attachmentid=1539] The others shows the manual phonebook entry screen. [attachmentid=1540] My only exposure to a Prius before my 2006 was a 2004 rental. The rental was a package #0. So it did not have any bells and whistles, so I can't tell you what is new or not, since the one I don't didn't have anything.
Thanks for the pix! Compared to my 04, those sure are nice looking screens. The manual input really makes me want to go out and trade my 04 for an 06. I don't think that will be happening in the near future, though. I can tell you that the battery strength icon definitely does not appear on my 04 MFD; the BT signal strength icon does, as do the roaming and signal strength indicators.
ok, i;m lost what is trick - to bonding the i870 to the car - i had to buy nextel, its the only service that works at my mountain house - but i cant seem to get anything to bond???
Make sure you turn the bluetooth on, on the phone. Have the phone search for a blue tooth device and use the number the car gives you to pare to the car. Mine was 1111. RTFM and if you have troubles after that PM me.
