Hello All, I did some searches and looked in the manual but have not found the answer to my question. The first time I drove my 2006 at night, the navigation screen turned black and the roads were shown in white. I thought it was pretty cool because it minimized screen glow in the darkness. Since that time, 4 months ago, I have not seen it again. How do I change the map from one view mode to the other?
There are a few things to consider. 1) it only happens when you turn your lights on. 2) if the interior lighting rheostat wheel (left of the steering wheel) is cranked and clicked all the way up, the MFD will not switch into night mode. 3) the MFD has an internal setting that allows you to define that it never switches into night mode regardless of the headlights and the rheostat. It's most likely one of those three. If it's not, you need to stop driving your car immediately because it's very likely that a pack of ravaging trolls have tripped the light fantastic in your car rendering the MFD unfathomable. Good luck with that. ...and by the way, welcome to Priuschat!!
#2 is the winner. Thought maybe the trolls had done their thing and was ready to pull out the didgeridoo and move to the Seventh House.

A good way to tell if you have a gremlin is if your car suddenly dies at stoplights. Just keep listening for your engine and if it suddenly stops before the light turns green...You've got a gremlin.
Another possibility would be if the "Day Mode" button was pushed when you bring up the Display screen.
