Did a search for some of these, am still slightly confused, but think this Q&A will help me. Am assuming that the fob has some sort of RFID tag in it, correct? Is the RFID tag for the doors, or for the startup, or both? Where are the RFID reader coils located in the car? What frequency does the RFID operate on? On a side note, the fellows that typically answer these questions, DanMan and bookrats, haven't been around here lately. Their silence is deafening, hope they are OK....
Can't answer all of your questions, so I hope some other users will chime in. All of these answers apply only to a Prius with SKS (maybe that's obvious). Yes. The FOB has an RFID tag in it. The tag is for both start up, and for opening the doors. There is a coil associated with each front door, a coil associated with the rear hatch, and one associated with the cabin (closer to the front seat, I think). Maybe someone can give you a better localization than that. Not sure about the frequency. . .
