Off Subject. Solar for my house.

i think i'm going to skip on it.. i loved the idea because it was "cheap" but i think we'll just start from the ground up.. while we can't afford to do full solar at first.. we can afford to make a UPS type of system

while browsing inverters over the past few years, i've fallen in love with the xantrax units. I think we are going to buy a 4.4kw inverter with gen start capabilities and such. we'll run 48 volts and recharge (i'll assume for now we'll be running 8 6v batteries.. add on over time possibly)

we'll then buy an outback charge controller for the solar part and add in solar panels as we can afford them.

i hope with a new inverter/charger the batteries will last longer than his did.(he said his batteries only lasted 8 years)... but i question his set up... wiring and such...
