There are two unknowns here. One is what was the offer. The second is what GM plans to do with the Pontiac manufacturing infrastructure. It is quite possible that the "Ponitiac" plants were to be kept by GM building the retained lines and a mixture of present chevy, etc. plants shut down. GM is quite intent on selling Saturn, Hummer, and Saab, so I'm not sure that GM is against selling facilities. Nor can I deny that they may be out of touch in this case.
