Do what I'm doing. My order will be placed for delivery in LA. I'll be flying out there to get my PHV from Diane, then enjoying a road trip on the way back. Immediately being able to gather so much highway-only, no-plugging data will be a nice benefit. I'm sure that aspect of performance will be a common question. In the meantime for Prius stuff, I'll focus on adding to the new User-Guide and taking new photos... in addition to watching the Volt rollout fallout, which hopefully won't end up contributing to new misconceptions about plug-ins. My brief experience with the PHV was a pure delight, totally worth the wait. Of course, I've already been waiting for how many years? .
I would register to be the first to sign up for Prius PHV now. When you can order, pick a dealer from the closest launch state. When it is ready to be picked up, fly there and drive it back home. The launch states are Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii,* Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
I remember threads from a long time ago about it being difficult to do an out of state purchase through a California dealer, because California insisted on collecting California sales tax (or something like it) unless they jumped through hoops, like having the dealer drive the car across the border, so it wouldn't be delivered in CA. Did that ever get resolved? Makes a difference as to whether I would work with Dianne W. Also, I remember a lot of negative comments about AZ dealers. Anyone got any recommendations, since that is the closest state to Texas?
Ok Registration was done several days ago when I got the email Guess I'll have to pull out some maps.. and brush up on my geography... hmmm Who is this Dianne??? Now *pulling up mapquest* which place is closest to Louisiana.... Thanks for the info.. as my research continues....
