    The Volt keeps the battery conditioned hot or cold with Level 2 or Level 1 charging. That's why Chevy recommends keeping the car plugged in during extreme weather conditions.
    Charging times are a non-issue. The 12 1/2 hour time quoted for the Volt is if the charging rate is set at the 8 amp level. At the 12 amp rate, charging is about 8 hours with the level 1 EVSE. Also, you don't have to wait 'til the battery is completely full to use the car. ;)
