here's what has been working for me personally:
–press down on the brake pedal and continue holding
    –press power
–continue holding down brake pedal put gear selector into D and hold it there
–as soon as D is shown in the MID by the speedo, release gear selector and drive off
This generally takes no more than 2 seconds. There's no need to wait for all the screens to initialize for this to happen. I'm generally already in motion while the MFD is still booting up (especially if it's loading BT audio).

I know what you mean. It's an every other day occurrence for me. But it's a delay no longer than any other conventional car. I mean, think of a conventional ICE. Once you press the start button, you have to wait a second or so for the engine to start. Then you shift to drive and wait another second or so for the transmission to actually shift. It's about the same amount of time total to wait for the PiP to boot up.

If the Prius had a standard shifter, I think it wouldn't be so glaring an issue. I wonder what Prius C drivers experience. Can they just shift to D, let go of the brake and wait the split second for the car to move? The shifter is physically in D. They can't shift to D twice like we do.
