Again the prius seems to have pleasant surprises...I was pushing the power switch on the radio am/fm/cd stock radio...to turn it off ...as one would normally do...then instead of pushing the power button again to turn it on...as i normally do...i just hit the "AM" button instead, and the radio came to life..."FM" ,of course, does it too...just a nice surprise ...seing how no other vehicle of mine would ever do that...
In case this wasn't generally known, if you hold the up or down button on the steering wheel while listening to a CD it will change CDs.
Yep, that too =) All this can be found in john1701a's website. If he doesn't mind, here's the pdf file that he and a number of Prius owners compiled.
Here are a few more button features I don't see on John's list: - You can tune to any radio station you want (not just presets) from the steering wheel up/down switches. Just hold the button down for a while and it starts tuning in the chosen direction. - If you press and hold the INFO button on the steering wheel it toggles between CONSUMPTION AND ENERGY screens every 5 seconds. - If you press and hold the MAP button (assuming you've got NAV) on the steering wheel, it will update the street address display every 5 seconds.
You can turn the radio-cd etc. ON by pressing the MODE button. As stated earlier, if you hold down the MODE button you wil turn OFF the device that's playing. This is very handy when a phone call comes in.
If you use the Prius' Handsfree Bluetooth system the audio system automatically mutes when the phone is in use.
Thanks for pointing to the pdf. I just saved this to a file I started named Prius Info. Can never have to much info. I am sure John doesn't mind. I went to his site last week and looked around, but not long enough to see everything
Since last week (on Sunday, Feb. 27 in fact), john1701a has posted a new PDF file with updated guide information for the 2004-05 Prius. While we're admitting which things in this thread are new to us, I was surprised by the updating street address (by holding the MAP button). It's great to share discoveries.
