Ran out of gas in my new to me PIP

once you learn that there's still 100+ miles left in the tank after the beep and last bar starts flashing, it doesn't really matter that toyota set it to that point. but some will go to far, and then there is no warning after that. i generally fill up at the beep, but if i'm on the road, i'll wait until i come to a good fueling station.

 

After over a year of ownership, I still occasionally forget about the gas tank till it is telling me to fill up. Just last night as I rolled into the driveway, I got the dreaded "beep". After 2 weeks, I forget when I last filled up and don't watch my gas gauge the way I have in other cars. It's all on me. Don't know why. But each time it happens, I'm like, "Why can't I fill up before this happens?" LoL

 

My first Subaru was much more pessimistic. Both my Prii seem quite average on this, at least by U.S.-market standards.
