I noticed that the RDS option on the Prius stereo is WAY different from other systems, It doesn't display the song or artist but it does display what the station name is.....is this normal or is my stereo on the fritz?
The station name shows up in the AUDIO screen (with the 6 presets showing). The song title/artist is shown by pressing MSG.

Question for LA people: Formerly, K-Mozart, is now a cowboy station, but still shows "K-Mozart" on the screen. Does yours do this? Also KUSC (Classical) is stuck on "Elgar", no matter what is playing. What does your KUSC say when the display is on? I know the displays are controlled by the individual stations, not the car, but these two have me puzzeled.
In my 2005 when I cut the speed sensor wire for the BT (and installed a switch), I had access to the MSG while in motion.
The message is whatever the radio station is broadcasting. If it's sending Artist, Title, Station, then that's what you'll get. If it's only sending the Station, well, then that's all your radio will say. Sometimes it's corrupt and doesn't say anything at all. Also, make sure that your radio hasn't only received a portion of the message rather than the whole thing. Sometimes it takes a couple cycles for the entire message to (be received) and shown.
