I tried turning the Homelink mirror upside down. That did not work. It points toward the ground. Also tried pivoting the mirror up (like a day/night mirror) but it's really tight, not easy to pivot, large and heavy, and does not have that day/night bezel built in. I think I'm stuck with headlights from behind glaring in.
The idea of a dimming rear view mirror is so you do not have to dodge lights in the rear view mirror & side view mirror at the same time while looking where you are going. Many times dodging both mirrors while maintaining control is impossible.
Impossible for some, maybe, but personally I don't have to look at the mirror to adjust it. Just reach up and twist it without taking my eyes off the road ahead. If you're being dazzled from the poorly functioning auto dimming mirror you will know without looking at it when the irritation goes away.
Perhaps it would after dark, but may impact on daylight use. After having 4 of these auto dim mirrors I know I prefer the manually adjusted ones.
