Just as I suspected. The Seinfeld/Gates commercial is history. No one knew what it was about. They're replacing it with a counter "I'm a Mac" ad. As usual, Apple leads and other copy.
To think they spent 10 million on Jerry Seinfeld for two commercials. Maybe they should invest in a better adverting firm. In the new ads, are they going to try to make people think the Vista operating system is better than a Mac, or they just going to say that its not as bad as Apple makes it out to be.
:nerd: Why don't they use some of that money to develop some good software instead of trying to convince people that the products they have aren't as bad as we think they are?
I sort of wonder if that was the marketing plan all along. The one thing I'll say about the Microsoft commercials is that it has a lot of people talking. They have me anxious to see their next batch of ads.
As a computer consultant, I say that Vista speaks for itself and that is why so many folks are downgrading to XP. Unfortunately Windows 7 due next year is built on the Vista shell so no help there.
Just a few days after killing the sienfeld/gates adds, they already have 3 new adds out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi1se9rH7S8 Something tells me this was their plan all along...
New TV adds to change your image: $300 million TV personality for the first two TV ads: $10 million Using your competitors products to sell your own: Priceless. Somethings money can't buy. For everything else, use Windows Vista.
Did you notice in the new commercials they have an email address for each person in the lower right hand corner of the screen? Here is the email I just sent:
Yeah, I noticed the emails for the first 4 people, then they stopped. I was hoping to be on emailing terms with Eva Longoria. I hope that they write you back dogfriend.
When the John Hodgman look alike guy says " I'm a PC, and I've been made into a stereotype" I want to reply: You just reinforced that stereotype. If for some reason, Mac OS and hardware ceased to exist tomorrow, I would buy a PC, erase the hard disk and install Ubuntu. I have Ubuntu and Win2k installed under VMWare Fusion on my Mac, but I rarely use either one, and I don't ever allow Win2k to see the internet.
