I don't know what this snow stuff is you're talking about. I turned the heat off this morning and opened the kitchen door wide. Lunch on the deck was very pleasant.
It's nice here today too. With the storm over and the sun out, we are up to a balmy 25°F (-3.9°C). I'm thinking about getting the boat into the water. Tom
I'm desperately trying to atrract bluebirds, but just can't seem to GERD! As a last ditch effort, I'm putting out mealy bugs. Unfortunately, more than bluebirds eat them. I use a typical bluebird house on a steel pole with baffel, but that doesn't get me any bluebirds. I live in a highly wooded (longleaf pine) area. Any suggestions.
The bluebirds and swallows were checking out our boxes but we were hit by another large rain storm so I have not seen the birds in a couple of weeks. No sign of wood ducks either. We have 12 boxes up. I hope the ducks get to em before the damned starlings do! There is always glyphosate!
What kind of birds are you seeing? Is the box opening sized properly for bluebirds? Are you placing them in an open area of grass and away from trees? Which direction is the opening facing? Check out this book. I purchased this one for our Girl Scout bluebird project. It helped her to design and place the boxes properly.
