My Prius zaps me every time. I've driven many cars and none of them have zapped me so consistently. I've developed a habit of touching the corner of the door with my shoulder and shoving it closed with my elbow. I would really appreciate a solution.
Why not install one if these? Less than 10 bucks from Amazon. Amico Auto Car Black Anti Static Electricity Strap Earth Belt Ground Wire (YI-153)
Forum seems to block linking into amazon… But you can just google the word in that post. But you can put anything on the car that conducts electricity (even a little bit) and is touching the ground.
Wear some different clothing? Or change the seats to leather? Maybe some anti-static spray on the seat will help. Most of the static should form as your clothing separates from the cloth seat while you are getting out. My worst offender was an '84 Ford, not any current household car. Low humidity weather generally makes it worse.
I used to get this with my old Mazda MX-3 Coupe during dry summers. I've never had my Prius zap me though, however, this happens all the time in my IT Support office right now. I noticed that it coincided with a new pack of underwear (no, seriously...!!!) that I started wearing to work.
