Once you run out of EV battery (solid block), PiP will start in HV mode. In HV mode, you only have 10 kW of traction power before ICE kicking in.

Well, since you did full EV trip, your ICE would've been cold. So, it started the warmup cycle. There is no way around it since EV button will not let you go into EV mode since you don't have any more miles left.

Looks like it is a suitable car for you. How are you doing with your EV ratio?

Do you know the fuel economy breakdown of both fuels?

Unlike the Volt and its OnStar feature, I don't get monthly reports or a good breakdown on data. As best as I can determine from the dash displays:

    Lifetime mileage: 2375
My lifetime mileage (minus dealer): 2270
Lifetime EV miles (car reported): 2090
Gas used (2 months): 8.15 gal
    2375-2090/8.15=35mpg
    Total kWh (car reported): 466
My MPGe display(2270 miles): 103.2 (in gas only terms: 278.5mpg)
    Car MPGe display(2375 miles): 96.5
    EV%: 88 (2375 miles)
    EV%: 92 (2270 miles)
    EV miles(2090)/kWh used(466): 4.5 miles/kWh

    FWIW.

    Electricity Efficiency - 129 MPGe
    Gas Efficiency - 35 MPG
    Fuel Ratio - 88% EV
    Combined Efficiency - 97 MPGe

EV efficiency is impressive. How fast do you normally go?

Gas efficiency is disappointing as EPA rated it at 43 MPG.

Thanks, I'm trying to drive efficiently. Ev speeds are anywhere from 20-70mph. I'd say my 18 mile one way commute route is about 50/50 city/hwy but I try to keep speeds below 65mph. City errand runs are <40mph. On cold days (for us), I pre-condition on L2 and use seat heaters so I don't need HVAC heat. I expect my ratings to drop a bit in the summer with the nearly constant a/c use.

On the gas mpg, nearly 100% of my usage is highway (EPA 41) so 35 isn't too far off; especially on a brand new engine (285 miles of use). Being new to the car, I've also futz the controls several times activating the ICE at stops along with the totally unnecessary activation due to the previously mention A$$&*@e driver incident. I typically avg. 2-3 under EPA highway estimates due to the nearly ever present gulf breezes and highway speed limits here are 75mph.

Looking into Jeff's questions about EVnow, I personally discovered you can floor the accelerator in that mode and NOT activate the ICE without OK'ing it's use. NICE. I will be using that mode pretty much from now on. (y)

Those pre-condition kWh needs to be added because it won't display in the dash, I don't think.

For PiP, we use gas to warm up the cabin and the car track the consumption.

How many of the 18 mile commute is at 60-65 mph?

Very rough breakdown: 4 miles @ 60-70mph, 4 miles @ 55mph, and the remainder @ 20-45mph. Rinse, lather, repeat. Day after day after day after...... :)

You get 129 EV MPGe doing those speeds? Me-thinks Ford might be cooking the books a bit, that or they aren't taking into consideration wall to car losses.

I think Dennis already adjusted for that. The car display showed something like 223 Wh per mile which is loosely around 150 MPGe before being adjusted down to 129 MPGe due to an assumed charging overhead of about 15%.

Yup, I adjusted with 15% charging loss and it came out 129 MPGe which pretty much what his dash said.

It is impressive for a 5 seater plugin. More efficient and practical than Volt.

More efficient.... perhaps a little, according to EPA. I'm looking forward to seeing more real-world results. I routinely got 129 MPGe EV or better on 80% highway commuting before putting on new tires this fall. I also got much better than 35 mpg in HV on gas.
