I was using 15w50 in an oil burning engine until a planned engine replacement date. The 15W50 burst the oil pressure switch. I then switch to 0w40 and the Chinese oil pressure switch still only lasted a month. I'm at the point where I'm convinced there's no such thing as good aftermarket anything. I've had enough of cheap Chinese junk. I suppose if you want to tinker with Chinese parts you can on your own car but if you do this for a living you will quickly get a bad reputation buying Chinese crap. And if you value your time you'll realize that your labor is worth more than the difference in price for parts. You didn't buy a Chinese car why? So why do you buy Chinese parts for your car? I rest my case

Wow, 15W50 in place of 0W20. That's a big change. How much reduction in oil burning did you see? Any other side effect?

The cold engine will work a LOT harder causing more stress on the parts because it's
so think. And will still have to work harder because it's still thicker than it's designed to run.

15-50 is extreme and I did it just riding out the remainder of what I could with a bad motor. It's def too thick of an oil for this engine.

Awhile back I put an oil press guage on a turd gen w 0w-40 and w engine not yet fully warmed up I found pressures to be in normal range. Since I pull trailers I couldn't imagine using 0w-20 but if I lived in sub freezing temps and didn't pull a trailer I might. No wrong answer here except 0w-20 in summer w trailer and full throttle, and 15-50 at temps under 100f.... Just my opinion. Feel free to debate. I'm not asserting my opinion to be the only right answer

Oh yeah, sidefx: press so high oil press switch ruptured. It made oil consumption go from 1qt/1k mi on 0-40 to 1/4qt. It's a bandaid til the motor was finished. And not a good bandaid. I don't recommend that thick of an oil unless ur planning on ditching the motor in the end
