    Hello,
I am working on a 2008 Prius with a damaged MFD. The screen is mostly unreadable during the day and at night you can see all the burn marks and what appears to be scratches or cracks.(See pictures) But the outer surface feels smooth. I have not removed the MFD yet as I want to have the correct fix on hand before I do that if possible.

I need help determining if this problem is just in the digitizer, or if it also affects the LCD? And can I buy these components individually or am I better off with a replacement MFD? I have replaced smartphone screens so I am willing and able to replace the individual components to save money.

Also, as a bonus question, This Prius seems to be a base model in every aspect. Can I put a high res MFD in to get the nicer screen and potentially more features? Or will it not work?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

If the touch screen is till functioning, you can navigate through the buttons, I would try to replace the LCD/digitizer (18-20 USD from ebay) might be good to get it from Amazon as well so you have a 30 day return window should you after dismantling figure out that is not the issue. Looks more of aesthetic problem if its still functioning. Atleast, before you shelve out 200 bucks for replacement MFD.
