I always say vote with your feet. Go to Legoland. After awhile they will get the message.

 

Many a time I used to tell vendors why I was unhappy or closing my account or not returning to the establishment.

Isn't Harrogate full of Americans who are most definitely not tourists, but who are not allowed to tell you what they do, other than that they "work for the government"? Don't charge them extra: you never know what they might do in revenge.

My sister lived in Harrogate for a while - you mentioned ages ago that you were from there. She worked for a software company near an extraordinarily small pub.

I remember going to other pubs in town with her and meeting lots of remarkably pleasant, if slightly reticent, people who worked for the government.
