Our record mpg on a tank of gas is 41.9 (over 2 years). We drive the speed limit, accel slowly and keep the tires well inflated. Always wondered how others got very high mpg with various hybrids. Yesterday I filled the tank before a 45 mile drive and decided to apply some of the hypermiling techniques I've read here and elsewhere. And lo and behold I get 46.2! WOW! And in case your wondering, the destination was at a slightly higher elevation. It was a revealing experience, can't wait to try it on my 2010 Prius IV in a few months.
Short trips? Cold weather? Had your alignment checked? Tires properly inflated? I'd think up there in the frigid north, an EBH would benefit you quite a bit.
Correct, our record for a tank is still 41.9, but we have not tried to apply (some aspects of) hypermiling to a whole tank yet. It was just revealing to get over 46 mpg over a 45 mile (slightly uphill) trip...
