Dogman here in Australia there is currently a plague of crime to do with performance cars with push button start this must be the tool they are using

Interesting but does not explain how black_ is programming used fobs to other cars

You just erase the keyfob, which makes it like new/unused. Then you copy to it.
If you use the "club", or similar device, it will make more difficult to steel....

That's the Autel device . Read the literature well. If you have ideas about these systems . The lock company software will really help ya understand what's going on .keys n fobs are for welp honest folk.ive a buddy who's a lock guy commercial type . The system he uses is pretty cool I've been able to look thru it quite a bit. Interesting for sure . They're are all kinds of electronic tools to access and run . Fail safes and backup and on n on.

All cars have a method for programming new key fobs, even if the owner has lost all of them. To do this, you'll need a tool like Techstream. First, you may need to perform what's jokingly called the "chicken dance"—this usually means repeatedly pressing the door switch or flicking the dome light to wake up the ECU, allowing Techstream to connect without a key present or the ignition being on.

Once Techstream is connected, navigate to the key fob programming section. There's an option to reset or reinitialize the immobilizer system back to factory mode. Dealerships can perform this process, but they also have to input a code generated by the car into a secure system that returns a second code for use in Techstream. This part is tricky—outside of the dealership, accessing the required code often involves navigating obscure corners of the internet, paying a third-party service in one country to get access to a server in another. On top of that, the returned code must be used in Techstream within a short window of time, or it becomes invalid.

This method, you get the fobs you want coded to the vehicle(up to 5) even if they are not virgins and they can be coded.

This lets me know you haven't done the process yourself because you actually don't erase the keyfob at all...

Thanks Black_ .. i am very familiar with the techstreams immobilizer/security section passcodes and seeds but i have always been reluctant to reset the cars immobilizer and have never been able to get any of the seed calculator tools working, a lot would have changed since my last attempt, i will do some research .. thanks again :)

tricks for bypassing the OEM required locksmith licensing for access to the immobilizer functions are more than likely not universal to all versions and types of techstreams people buy and plug into there Toyotas.

see the below, if your techstream and cable can bleed brakes I feel confident in saying itll do the immobilizer. use the generators online that you have to pay for.. last i checked it was like 5 tries for a set price... i thought I wouldnt need them all, but.. you just might because the first attempt didnt work and neither did second because of the time constraints they have... i did get it by the 5th attempt and really did use all the credits I had to buy...

I've been trying to program a fob for my 2013 Prius V and it keeps failing when it asks to leave the fob on the passenger seat. After hearing the beep from the new fob, it doesn't detect the new fob where ever I leave it on the passenger side. I bought a brand new key fob that's designated for the my year/model. The FCC ID matches with my original fob. I've tried numerous combinations (in accessory mode and with the engine running) even using the classic registration method and disabling my smart key function.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? The videos I've seen, look instant when it asks to leave the key on the passenger seat.

First, you may want to try the "Prius V" forums instead of the "Gen 3" forums. since I don't know if key fob programming is exactly the same procedures (even though I would think TechStream works on all models).
Can you confirm whether you are the original owner or if you bought the Prius used? I ask because if you're not the original owner, it's possible that previous owners have already programmed additional keys such that the car is at its maximum limit for keys. Your experience sounds similar to what I experienced on my Gen2 Prius. In this case, you would need to delete all keys except for one. And then you can add the 2nd spare key.

Thanks for the response, I figured the process would be similar across most Toyota vehicles. I'll poke around there to see if I can find anything. While I'm not the original owner, Techstream shows there are 5 available slots left for my vehicle.

That's strange that you're saying you can program 5 more key fobs. Because I've always been under the impression that the maximum number of key fobs that can be programmed to any particular Prius is 5; in other words, if you already have an original key fob that locks/unlocks/starts the Prius, then you should have at most only 4 more slots. But maybe I'm misremembering the maximum key fob slots or Prius V's are different than Gen2/Gen3 that I'm more familiar with.

To understand what exactly you are doing, we need, for example, a video of the process of your actions, a photo from Techstream. Perhaps someone, having seen a key moment done incorrectly, will show you the right way.

what USB to OBD2 cable are you using? That makes the world of a difference, if you got a low cost MVCI then thats your issue!

here is some good reading for you.

Thanks guys for all the help on this, but I only realized now that I bought a used key fob. Got the key fob in 2017 and was just too lazy in learning to try get it programmed. Found a thorough guide here:

non virgin key fobs can be added.
