the gas bladder: exposed!

In theory, possible... BUT you have to cut open the metal tank and the plastic fuel pump sump. Then find a "correct" pump, install it and seal everything up with absolutely no leaks.

No shop would touch that because of the liability of having the tank cut open and "patched" (might not do so good in a collision). Plus any leak inside or out will trigger the check engine light.

Crappy design but that's what we have to live with.
