The people that wrote that article apparently do not know that 5,000 (I believe the lower limit is higher) horsepower to 100,000 horsepower AC induction motors in large industrial manufacturing are started directly from the power grid mains with no problems at all caused to our power grid. The start-up current of these monsters easily makes charging those Chevy volts seem like a pin prick! I would also like to add that since lots of the heavy industrial jobs like mills that require these beasts of electric motors are over seas in China. So most likely, the power grid is starting to become less loaded.
