California is in a bit of a pinch. The western states are experiencing record droughts which are cutting into hydro generation. We have a government mandate to ramp up the adoption of BEVs much faster than normal market forces would. We have a public mandate to remove nuclear power from the supplies, resulting in loss of 10% of our power generation within 2 years.

The 10 GW of offshore windmills will not make up for the loss of our remaining nuclear power plants. It's going to be tough going for the next 5 to 10 years.

The energy-output of 10GW of wind is the equivalent of 4-4.5GW worth of nuclear generation stations.
