TPM Programing Questions?

Seems I read somewhere that is you remove all 4 sensors from the system, you won't
get the light. Since there are no sensors to report.

You would either have to disable the circuit too the light electrically with a jumper or block it off on the screen with a piece of tape.

 

This is indeed not true.

(What can be tested/done to fool the system (apart from the circuit disablement) is to put four activated cheap TPMs sensors in a pressure can (that can hold pressure and have a big enough opening to put them sensors in there ) in the trunk and fool the ECU these readings are from the tires…)

NOTICE: Toyota or priumium do not recommend or condone this foolish fooling of an ECU.

 

Why go through this complicated exercise and get no benefit form the TPMS transmitters?

Just put the transmitters into the wheels with the tires and get their ful benefit.

As I posted, a piece of wire or black tape gets the same results.

 

@Georgina Rudkus As stated, this was just a suggestion - and if fooling is anyone’s game, as your own ECU disablement indicates galore, this is also a way.

How does your own tip get any benefit at all from this feature?

I just wrote about how easily these sensors can be added and cloned in another thread (for those of us that have to swap tires annually by law)

 

I've been looking, for I've always used snows.
But, it's a major expense, when you throw in the wheels.
I'm retired, so maybe I can pick and choose when I travel in the white stuff.
Although, I'm looking out the window, and it's snowing, and I'm supposed to go out to a movie later. Argh.

Indeed it’s a major expense if the wheels are not included. Since it’s by law here up north (Sweden…) almost every used vehicle has the rims, but the tires are crap.

In my experience, the Prius is a snow/ice master with studded tires. When I used winter tires the antislip feature would make the drivetrain unhappy.

This year I bought GY Arctic Ice 2 and they are superb.

 

I had Nordman by Nokian on my last MINI. Helped on ice, but noisy as hell!

 

Agreed. Have tried these with the same feeling, and the Nordic hakkapallita model was the same. Great grip, noisy. It’s normally a trade off.

These GY mentioned are rated for 69dB and are much less noisy with maximum grabber effect for me on ice last week. Impressed!
