Transmission Effectiveness Factor - A New car performance metric

    From the model I get
    10 mph ICE = 2220 rpm max
    20 mph 2640 rpm max
    30 mph =3065 rpm max

    If you can find away to get higher ICE rpm at those speeds please tell me how to do it.

    A run of the mill economy car typically will get to max horsepower rpm at about 30 mph in 1st.

    Close enough to what I got from that model, to not argue about. Battery HP adds into the engine HP during acceleration.

    I agree a manual transmission car can be operated to get that power.

    But, that does not explain the TEF of the automatic Accord for example. Its apparently short shifting for its TEF to be down in the .4's . Or the lower TEF of the Pontiac.

    And that has been my experience with other automatic cars. Although I have not driven a wide variety of modern automatic transmission cars.

    It could just be the quicker action of the electric transmission, versus the hydraulic transmission I have been experiencing from running start accelereations.


    Oh BTW,

    Just looked at PencilGeeks Dyno Plots. And the spread at 30 MPH is 78 to 83 HP, versus the 82 HP estimated a few posts ago based on the PSD model....
