When I questioned my Toyota mechanic at my first servicing about my gas mileage, he told me to steer away from some gas that is out there - specifically, Phillips 66 Conoco. Given that Arco is cheapest in my area (Seattle) and that we are always looking for cheaper gas, does anybody know 1) whether, if you have the right octane, the brand of gas makes a difference and 2) which gas stations to avoid?
I use arco most of the time, used to put shell or chevron, but those are too expensive now. havent seen any difference between those 3. i try and stay away from weird brands that seem cheap.
Generally gas is gas, with minor differences in additives. In some markets the amount of ethanol may differ from one brand to another, but otherwise it makes little difference. Tom
I used to use arco premium in my old turbo car. the octane is fine but they don't use as much detergent as shell and chevron. When I got around to doing an injector cleaning they where pretty dirty. this could have been due to the car being 20 years old, but I think it was more so the gas.
