Ah. I think if there were to be a diesel hybrid, it'd be like Honda's laughable attempt at hybrid technology. i.e., electric motor assisting ICE, like the old insight or the civic hybrids, which had their ICEs running 100% of the time. But i've also seen whackos at gas station filling up their diesel pickups while the engine is running. While i know there's really no danger (diesel is really hard to ignite), it still baffles me. I asked my dad, who was a mechanic at one point in his life, and he said diesel engines would wear pretty quickly if they were started and stopped often.
