Yup. The Critic warned me. So for anyone thinking of selling their car to Carmax. De-mod the car before bringing it it. They want it all OEM! They offered me $4000 less than the Chevy dealership!
That really blows! But the Chevy dealers have lots of experience taking in Prius trades and turning them around [bite my tongue now]
The Chevy dealer actually gave me a $1000 credit for the Premium wheels. Just goes to show you have to shop around.
They gave use $2000 more than the Acura dealer for my girlfriend's 2006 Rav4. So I thought they would do better than the dealer for my car. They said because of my mods they couldn't sell it so it would go straight to the auction which makes sense. They don't sell modded cars.
"OEM springs" are now considered a mod that won't sell a "Prius".........I guess. Did u ask them what they would give u if u returned it back to stock?
No. I didn't bother. I was receiving messages from PIP owners interested in trading wheels and looking at my car in the parking lot with the black solar roof and low stance made me feel good about being forced to keep it.
btw, why are you trading in or considering a trade in at least? isn't it a little late to get a PiP at this point?
Do you still have your wheel covers? Are they in good shape? I just found out the PIP wheels are approx. 2lbs heavier than the OE 15s.
I just like the idea of being able to hypermile a PIP. My commute is much too long to get super high mpg but I have more tools at my disposal and that makes driving fun.
The Toyota dealer in York gave me an extra $1500 on my trade of my 2011 III by waiting (instead of buying right away) and by pointing out all the mods to the appraiser (who "didn't notice" them).
