I think @Rmay635703 also hit on the subject, at least partially, of pharmaceuticals that pass through the human system and get execrated as waste. Another perplexing issue no matter how human wastes are processed in mass amounts and released into the environment.

It may be too far out to try an think about how humans wastes are handled in space, and obviously the economic issues of converting our current systems to a more environmentally friendly process. Just like any other politically pressing issue, whatever it may be, it typically doesn't get eyeballs on the subject, until people start becoming aware of the depth or height. And this one, by it's nature, is near completely or of sight.
