Hi there everyone, 2012 Prius 2 owner here. Forgive me if I'm missing something (I used the search function before starting this thread), but I can't for the life of me find the dimensions of the 2012 Prius 2 speakers. I have the base model with no JBL. It appears that there are 6 speakers total, 2 by the windshield, and 1 on each door. What are the sizes for each pair?? I want to replace them but need to know before I start buying stuff. Thanks! PS, maybe the mods could post this info for ALL Prius' in one handy spot? Seems like info that everyone must have before deciding to upgrade, right?
Front doors are 6x9 components basically. I think the dash speaker is like a 2inch tweeter.. You can either get a nice 6.5 component set for the front and an adapter plate which i recommend, or get a 6x9 component set. The rear doors are 6 1/2's.
Here read up on this about the speakers. Door Panel Removal, Front Door Speaker Removal With Pictures | PriusChat
Thanks everybody for the info! Clicked on the link above and it seems like 6x9's won't fit in the front due to Toyota's weird mounting holes so I should probably go with 6.5's in both the front and back door spots, right? What about the tweeters in the dash? I checked onlinecarstereo.com and they say that there's a 2 inch speaker up top. Is that correct? I've never heard of a 2 inch speaker before.. What would fit up top?
Yes a 6x9 would fit, you just need to make the backing plate for the 6x9 cutout. some shops will just cut the old speaker out and put the new speaker in the same molded plastic, but that may not be the best mounting.
