Why did Toyota changed instruments location and to analog

    not only do they require vision, but also concentration and repeated attempts as your finger bounces around trying to hit the right spot

    And some of them take multiple taps, say vent mode. Progress… :rolleyes:

    Meh, I wouldn’t even consider a car without ADAS/self-driving. Self-driving is more important than helping read displays/find acessory controls.

    @bwilson4web praises his Tesla Model 3 at every opportunity on how it saved his life by preventing him from going off road because of his sleep apnea.

    Turning dash design into a tablet and a computer programming project doesn't fix a poor control design.

    I read an article years ago about aircraft cockpit design and how many crashes were traced to the wrong lever being pulled because it felt just like a different lever. Different shapes and sizes that can be distinguished without seeing them became standard because that got fewer people killed.

    Even more than one's vision, soaking up the bits of the brain that perceive depth and distance and require multi-level menus and visual confirmation that the screen did what it should have are bad design. Letting the HAL9000 do it for you instead doesn't make the basic layout any better.
