I don't quite understand your question. Are you asking how to get Edge to google search the highlighted word or phrase by right clicking on it? Have you try searching for plugins for that function?
Exactly. I found lots of people on lots of different tech forums asking the same question and -- on official MS forums -- getting blown off by the MS staff. On other tech forums I found lots of mumbo jumbo, but no answers. So far, I managed to turn off Cortana so that when I highlight and then right click instead of getting an option to ask Cortana, which then, eventually passes it to Bing, I now just get an option to have Bing search -- I am almost there, I just want to replace Bing with Google. And, yes, I have changed all default search options I can find from Bing to Google, but nothing seems to change the right-click. I searched fairly deeply again last night after posting here, but still nowhere....
I like to think I'm pretty computer literate, certainly for a man born in the forties. This means I've adapted from IBM DOS 4 through to windows 10 fairly well, but always recommend beginners to invest in a magazine which lets you learn gradually as the weeks go by. My subscription in UK had been going for years as there always something new to learn. I'm sure there must be something stateside like our ComputerActive which comes out every two weeks in UK. I'm not connected to the mag except as an avid reader. Want a look? There's an online presence at getcomputeractive dot com and they also have a Facebook presence.
@Stevewoods have you tried Internet Explorer? It's still in there. I tried Edge for a few minutes after doing win 10 upgrade, got very exasperated. As far as searching a highlighted word, a bit cumbersome but what I do, the old school (ctrl) C, then (ctrl) V in a search field or even the address bar.
I have used IE recently. A few Web sites I have been utilizing will only operate properly on IE. I have (had?) been an FF fan for years, but with all the issues I have been having lately, it has been a no go. Edge works pretty well, but on occasion it just seems to freeze for no reason.
I've been seeing IE freeze ups, fwiw. Yeah just the devil I know, I like the docked Favourites Bar, for example.
