I'm not a fan of Bill O'Reilly and similar talk show hosts either - it's seldom a true discussion or very civil. Those already aligned with his viewpoint may enjoy it, but drives away others that oppose or on the fence. I consider such talk shows a bane on the GOP as it turns off the very people on the fence they need to win elections. Back to the main point - bullying, shrillness, getting personal, other uncivil behavior hurts an argument - ANY argument - any viewpoint. At least O'Reilly did not dismiss Dawkins' viewpoint as BS.
I'm not a fan of any of it. I never listen/watch the talking heads on television. Once in a while I tune in on NPR radio, but even that grates on me as they persist with their fundraising BS. Journalism is sleazy, sensationalism. Talking heads don't have viewpoints. They have network tunnel visision. Their shows are designed to appeal to those who spend corporate money for advertising. And of course we pay for this crap through higher consumer costs! Have you noticed how often they say, "Thanks for tuning into our show." It's a "SHOW", not journalism. It's entertainment, but not for me.
