F8L - nahhhhhhhhhh, never worried about impressing people, most of my friends are mystified by the prius alone! i'm just all about getting things that work, work well and is beneficial for mpg's.
Everything doesn't work for everyone because there are too many variables. I found it best to listen to everyone and try the cheap, reversible suggestions. After all, if you don't like the results, put it back the way it was. My cheap-o list for increased fuel economy: Increase tp. (free) Block the upper grill year round & the lower when it gets "cool" (~$10) I can run the AC at 79F & be comfortable. (free) Slow down & maintain steady speed. (free) Shell gas (use their MasterCard for 5% discount) [other brands may have similar deals] The driver needs a longer break in period than the car. I don't remember a "magic" number of miles. Improved economy has been a continuous process over these 2 years.
hey jim....we use the shell mastercard too. for all of our other purchases (including paying bills) we use our USAA mastercard and get points for using it. we pay it off every month of course. but they offer gifts for the points and have adding shell and mobil gas cards. i just ordered 50 dollars worth....woohoo.........
hubby finally got around to checking the tire pressure. we had them rotated 2 weeks ago and apparently the service guy bled the excess air out because the pressure was 38/35 on them. tom refilled them so it should make a little change. other than that the only thing could be the a/c which we refuse to do without......
