    Ding ding .... we have a winner!

    When autos had distributor caps, it was easy to simply tune it (advance the timing) to work better with a higher octane gas. With today's computer controlled autos, this is not an option.

    Read my thread about mileage increase with 83-85ROM gas in Montana.

    I get much better mileage using LOWER octane.

    PS. I assume that the knock sensor allows the lower octane without risk.
